Budapest Spring Wine Festival 2007

With enthusiasm generated by the success of 2006 and according to our earlier aspirations, the Spring Wine Festival, Budapest’s largest gastronomic-cultural event, will be held between the 7th and 9th of April 2007. According to tradition, the wine festival to welcome spring will be hosted by the City Hall park in Budapest’s 5th district.

Presentation of the Spring Wine Festival

The aims of this festival of cultured wine tasting are to popularise Hungarian wines and promote and enhance the city of Budapest. An additional and not insignificant aim of the Spring Wine Festival is the presentation and marketing of wine makers in the small and medium sized enterprise sector producing high quality wines.

Wine tasting and exhibitors

Let’s not forget those visitors who last year visited the Spring Wine Festival for the winners of the “Wine of the City” award. In 2007, just like the previous year, a competition for vintners will be held in three categories (white, red and dessert wines). We hope that the competition will provide a pleasant way to pass the time not only for the wine makers but also for the illustrious guests taking part in the wine tasting. The tasting, as usual, will take place in three first-class restaurants.

The awards will be decided by a jury comprised of experts, representatives of the sponsors, media personalities and artists, who will take into consideration the votes of visitors to the festival.

Musical events

Visitors to the festival will be able to experience a wide variety of cultural events, alongside the excellent food and wines on offer.
The 80 m2 stage will feature lectures, quizzes and literary readings during the day and concerts during the evening.
The square will host craftsmen will present works connected to the event.
The screen on stage will show short films about the exhibitors, the sponsors, wine culture and the production of wine.
This gastronomic, cultural and tourist event will be extremely attractive for both Hungarian and foreign guests and fills a gap. It compliments the Spring Festival and similar cultural events in the spring season.
