The Event of the Year in Ruyton XI Towns!

7.00pm 24th March 2007
at Packwood Haugh School

This year the village will be presenting “A Taste of the Tudors”. This is the third and penultimate in the “Taste of” series that The Charter Group in Ruyton XI Towns has organised. The Charter Group expect this to be the evening “Event of the Year” in the village of Ruyton XI Towns. A lavish meal of the period will be served, in the Tudor style.

There will be live Tudor music, a demonstration of dancing of the period as well as the opportunity to learn Tudor dance and to participate. Ruyton Amateur Dramatic Society (R.A.T.S.) will also be entertaining guests with Tudor entertainment. It promises to be a lively evening! Whilst guests are encouraged to dress in period costume, it is not a requirement. Tickets are widely available locally in the shop, schools and pubs or from Ann on 01939 261607. There are only a limited number of tickets available, which are only £13 each.

The Charter group has been preparing for a 700th anniversary of the village which will be in 2008. One of the group’s first events (in 2005) was a 1960’s evening, entitled “A Taste of the Sixties”, where people dressed in 1960’s clothes and were entertained by 3 local 60’s bands including who reformed especially for the evening. Guests twisted and gyrated after enjoying the sort of food eaten then.

In 2006 the second event in the series was “A Taste of the Victorians” which was a Victorian Music Hall evening, when we were entertained by our local amateur dramatics group. Prior to that there was a talk on the Victorian Dining experience as well as a talk about how to dress as a Victorian. Again food of the period was served.

Both these events were enormously popular and everyone came dressed for the period. The Taste of the Tudors will be bigger and even better, thanks to the kindness of Packwood Haugh School who have offered the use of their facilities, which will be a real enhancement to the evening and they have wooden panelled rooms where the banquet will be held!
